RestNrilekS on Rattan Craft Projects

Orait! please bear with me for a short while. This starting entry will be in Bahasa Malaysia, and is also filled with a number of photos. But all pixs are smaller in sizes so that you would have an annoying awesome ;) experience staying on RestNrilekS.

Owh Yak yak yuk! Ini adalah gambar produk Kraftangan Malaysia kategori kraf anyaman rotan, hasil pelajar Jurusan Seni Kraf Rotan, Institut Kraf Negara. LoL. Rizal, ada-ada je ko ni membuat entri yang semacam hampeh sususan ayatnya gara-gara seo. Okay selesai sudah! LoL



On 14th November, Institut Kraf Negara (National Craft Institute) held its 8th Convocation Day. Eeehaa it is finally over. Now, i can really restnrileks. Personally, i just hate Convo day since i would be so stressful prior to that big day, not that i am complaining :). The stressful part would be working with idiots uninformed people. LoL. Two exhibition rooms overseeing the 6 major crafts on display, One holding room for VIP, A Mini Banquet Hall for VIPs, and The Convo Hall itself which includes the designing the stage and its overall ambience fall are usually given to me. My numerous and faithful attempts trying not to take that job have been futile. Aha. Anyway, pix above is last year stage design in preparation.






Great thing about IKN Convo Day is we manage to clear our store by selling Rattan Products Cheap. How cheap is cheap? Let say : A common rattan basket will sell for rm20-30 per piece out there, but for RM100, you might get a three piece set of furniture - yeah 2 chairs and maybe a small side table. LoL. Now, if you are nice to me, maybe i can set the price even lower ; ). Aha. Making money isnt our objective since the main goal is to clear our store room so we would have space for incoming rattan projects. Anyway, i am not going to turn this into a lengthy post (which i think i have a knack of turning one into it - Aha!).

Just enjoy the pixs of our rattan craft projects. I hope you enjoy looking at them as i have enjoyed guiding my students and as they themselves have enjoyed making them (plus all the nagging, dagger look from me for poor weekly assignment turn up, harsh constructive comments during classes, We had some serious fun :D Awyeah Team Work!! LoL! )




Experimental Rattan Fruit baskets inspired from flowers using the stake and strand method ; the unconventional method of constructing.




Coffee table weaved using rattan (black) and processed banana skin (from trunk). Inspired from Nemo Whaaaallleee eeeee oooooo form. White : A whale rattan table lamp.


Remember i have mentioned i like doodling during office meeting. Well, here are three of them which i did during my three previous meetings. LoL. I guess my director has accustomed seeing me doodling during office meeting. A ha! Cool!

    Gunung Mat Cincang, ceria, bawah dia macam ada theme park - ehh kira cam theme park tapi kedai2.

    But, yeah the area kat situ, which se angkatan dengan Berjaya Resort, Kalau malam2 memang gelap. I think those part of Langkawi, the Berjaya, Arwana and seangkatan, agak seram suram. My friend kena masa lalu area situ.

    They were four, driving cars mlm2 buta pagi, konon2 amik angin laut la, letak tangan atas bumbung la konon tangan nak rasa angin sepoi bayu laut, and suddenly rasa ada rambut panjang lebat atas bumbung, and then suara mengilai. LOL. Berjaya pun ada chiter dia tersendiri. hoho.

    ehh okay okay. Later nak tidur. kekeke

    The weaving is mostly done my students - Basically age of 18 - 25 years. we dont have that many boys here. The ratio is 30% (boys) to 70%.

    The red theme are mostly made of : Romantic and Anger (which depends on forms and patterns to distinguih)

    It is hard to get boys since most of them have this impression : Rattan Crafts = makcik2 buat bakul, when in fact, this is not true when it comes to IKN rattan crafts.

    The idea is to change the whole Malaysia rattan craft scene. :)

    Yes, i am trying to cut down my coffee intake. Bad thing is, i dont normally take plain water apart from my usually coffee intakes. No wonder la sakit kepala.

    I am gulping plain water as i am typing this. :-D :-D

    i once kena paksa gi juicing retreat.. hehehhee.. dekat tu..Janda Baik sana.. the weird this is.. bila i kat sana.. i lupa totally about coffee..

    when i baliks... i langsung takde minum kopi for 1 mth.. hahahhaa.. lepas tu.. balik jugo kopi ke pangkuan saya ni.. :-D

    but i try to keep it 2 max a day.. else hyper giler..

    try to drink water with ribena or juice.. mesti minumnya.. i pon dun like to drink plain water.. so i minum ribena.. :-[

    Problem is, i still drink coffee if i have to go to seminar or workshop since they always serve coffee and tea.

    Wah, mungkin rizl boleh cuba kurangkan pengambilan kepada 2 cawan sehari sahaja kot. Hiper "bijaksana" - =-O =-O =-O rizal minum kopi jarang lah pulak hiper :-D :-D

    Haha Ribena itu bagus sebab kaya dengan vitamin C. Nak cuba amalkan banyak minum air kosong, nanti muka pun bersih aja. hehe :) :)
